Summer is a time for adventure. It’s a season of embracing. It’s about all the little moments and reminiscing of those days of popsicles on the porch, lemonade stands, riding bikes with neighbors, lightning bugs, play dates, family vacations, and running barefoot. It was always about making the most of each day, playing until the sun faded away and mom called you home for dinner.
They never lasted long enough and they have only increased in brevity as we have aged.
There has always been something about this season that distinguishes it from the rest. Perhaps it was always the freedom of no school, but perhaps it has always been about letting go of expectations and to-do lists; of living each day one moment at a time; of learning the art of being still and finding rest in the going, in the tasks of everyday life. Perhaps the beauty of summer lies in the little moments of each day that we are reminded to celebrate.
So this summer, we have challenged ourselves to a little reminder of taking life one day at a time, embracing the little moments and celebrating each day. One Polaroid 210 camera, one picture, every day of summer. Just one. Everyday. Some are blurry, some are dark; most are imperfect, but that’s what makes them great. It’s been a summer I’ll never forget, thanks to that girl in the first, and last photo of the summer who encouraged the idea early this past may. Hope you enjoy them, as much as we have in making them.
